CAF Reschedules TotalEnergies CHAN 2024 to August 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the postponement of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 to August 2025. The decision follows an assessment by CAF’s Technical and Infrastructure experts, who recommended additional time to ensure all facilities meet the required standards.

Despite remarkable progress in infrastructure development across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, CAF has emphasized the importance of achieving optimal readiness. Construction and upgrades of stadiums, training grounds, hotels, and medical facilities are underway, but further work is needed to ensure the tournament's success.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe commended the efforts of the host countries, stating:
“I would like to thank President William Ruto of Kenya, President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, and President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda for their leadership and commitment. I am impressed by the progress being made and am confident that the facilities will meet CAF standards for hosting a successful tournament in August 2025.”

CAF also confirmed that the draw for the tournament will proceed as planned on January 15, 2025, in Nairobi at 20:00 local time.

The specific dates for the rescheduled championship will be announced later. CAF remains dedicated to working closely with the host nations to deliver an exceptional TotalEnergies CHAN event in 2025.
